Pearnel Charles is a Jamaican politician who was born on June 12, 1942, in Jamaica. He is the Member of Parliament for the constituency of North Central Clarendon since 2011 and has been re-elected in 2016 and 2020. Charles has been a member of the Jamaican Parliament for more than 30 years, serving in various roles in government, including as Minister of Labor and Social Security, Minister of Transport and Works, and Minister of Water and Housing. He has also served as the Speaker of the House of Representatives from 2007 to 2011. Charles is known for his advocacy for workers' rights, social welfare, and economic development. He has received numerous honors and awards, including the Jamaican Order of Distinction.
